Sunset Terrace House is an open concept house with wooden cladding texture by a collective in Singapore. This house contains of two level floors. Its location in the middle of luxurious residences area near the street with pedestrian paths make the designer creates high hedges all over the building to have a private nuance. The designer combines these grey stone tiles hedges with wooden gates that make it look more natural. The wooden gates look harmonious with the upper floor wall that could be seen from the outside of the house.
This house is located in tropical area. This climate suitable for open concept homes with the wooden cladding texture included this house. This concept means that the house has uncovered sides. It usually uses glass walls or sliding door to cover when the occupants are not using it. This condition make the house has good and wide air circulation that will make the house fresh and healthy. This also let the breeze flow entire the building abundantly.
The architect separates the public and private area of this house. There is a family room on the first floor. This room has glass wall, wooden cladding texture on the ceiling, white glossy floor, and stone backsplash. Black sectional sofas with wooden television desk surround a wooden table. Besides that, there is a solid wooden table with chairs around. On the outside of the room, there is a plywood terrace. It has logs seat and table for having outdoor dinner.
Wooden Lego style stairs connect the first floor to the upper floor. Concrete walls cover the stairs with natural light gaps between them. Different from the lower floor, wooden floor covers up this section. It has yellow lighting that makes it look luxurious. Unfortunately, this house doesn’t have any open bathroom with skylight here. The bathroom has grey marble walls with opaque glass windows. But it still has glass wall on this second floor with wooden balcony and wooden cladding texture that are the typical of open space concept homes generally.
